The temple complex features a prominent limestone karst hill. At its summit, a large golden Buddha statue is visible. The main temple buildings are constructed from concrete and tile, with traditional Thai architectural elements. The surrounding area is characterized by dense tropical vegetation.

Wat Tham Sua is located approximately 8 kilometers northeast of Krabi Town. Access is via Highway 4034, turning onto Wat Tham Suea Road. Ample parking is available on-site. Local songthaews (shared taxis) and taxis from Krabi Town service the temple. Bus route 1262 passes near the entrance.

The temple's origins are traced to the mid-1970s when a monk named Phra Ajarn Khom Thitayano established a meditation center within the cave. The cave itself is a natural limestone formation, typical of the karst topography of the region.
